New Hampshire Young Democrats Celebrate Olivia Zink's City Council Victory

Franklin, NH - Tonight, Olivia Zink won a seat on the Franklin City Council, representing Ward Two. Olivia, born and raised in Franklin and is a graduate of the Franklin school system, was victorious by 10 votes tonight after coming up short in 2018 by just a single vote.

The New Hampshire Young Democrats released the following statement on tonight’s victory:

“We are proud to congratulate Olivia on tonight’s victory and thank her for the hard work she put in to win this extremely close race. Born and raised in Franklin, Olivia has demonstrated a deep an unyielding commitment to the Franklin community. Tonight’s results show the people of Franklin believe in Olivia’s vision for a future Franklin – one that is commitment to innovative policies to encourage economic growth, investing in working families and small businesses, and strengthening and funding our schools. As Franklin looks to grow and build towards a brighter tomorrow, having young, progressive voices like Olivia leading the way will be integral to its success.

We look forward to standing with Olivia, as she dedicates herself to the betterment of Franklin, its citizens, and its schools,” said New Hampshire Young Democrats President Lucas Meyer. The Young Democrats helped organize and execute direct voter contact in the days leading up to the election in support of Olivia. Volunteers knocked on hundreds of doors and made hundreds of calls in the lead up to this election, an effort which will continue through November for NHYD candidates in cities across the state. NHYD has already begun supporting and advising 30 young candidates running for city office in Rochester, Somersworth, Dover, Manchester, Portsmouth, Concord, Claremont, and Nashua, who are running to build youth power and make New Hampshire a better place for young people to live, work, attend school, and raise a family.
